A few posts back we introduced you to Agent Mulder, the brother of my dear Scully who passed away last year. Mulder came to us in May, and today we celebrate his 18th birthday! He’s roughly the equivalent of a 90 year old human, but in spite of having hyperthyroidism and some kidney issues he’s looking and doing quite well. And as many of you who have and love pets know, they’re always worth celebrating.

Mulder started his special day off with a nice serving of tuna. He mostly prefers the tuna water over the actual chunks of fish, but that water part he really enjoys! (Editor’s note: This evening he absolutely demolished a bowl of the very same tuna he passed on this morning. Go figure!) He spent time outside with us while we had our tea, and then enjoyed what most any cat would relish: a nice long nap in the sun.

To help celebrate his big day we purchased a private kitty stroller for him. We had tried taking him out for walks in our dock cart, but his inquisitive nature kept getting the best of him, leading him to ditch the cart and go exploring. Today he toured our RV resort, visiting the pickleball courts, the pool, and even the golf putting green.

After a brief rest for another cat nap, Mulder was off to the beach to see what it was that excites Niki so. He explored the sand, prowled amongst the rocks, and relaxed a bit more in the glorious sunshine.

While many folks who are turning 18 go on celebrating late into the night, our friend Mulder has instead decided to chill out, re-read the birthday card he received from his staff, and look forward to a wonderful night of waking the humans every so often for a snack.
