Two Intros

This Spring, while preparing for our trek to Michigan, we were treated to a sweet surprise. Supreme Commander Scully had a brother named Mulder who had stayed with Sue, Craig’s first wife. But recently Mulder needed a new home and Sue asked if we could adopt him.

Heck, yeah!

It only took Roswell about a week to accept him, so we are a two kitty family again. We’re so upside down that we’re constantly calling the cats the wrong name, including throwing a “Scully” in there because Mulder looks just like that pretty girl. He is the sweetest, most handsome boy, a great traveler and loves to give kitty kisses. He’s almost 18 years old but, with the help of some meds, he’s doing great! We are massively in love with him.

And, drum roll please, yesterday N’Joy was launched into the water in Waukegan, Illinois, just north of Chicago. Craig designed the name and we are so pleased with it!

If interested, here’s a video of the launch, with N’Joy hanging in the Marine travel lift and touching water.

After the launch, we celebrated with a beer onboard and it felt so good to realize – we’re boaters again! In March 2020 it didn’t occur to me I would never see Joy Girl again when I flew home to visit my parents after we finished  America’s Great Loop. We know this is nothing compared to other COVID hardships but we were sad because we never cruised Joy Girl again with her hard-won, gold AGLCA flag. But now it’s waving on N’Joy.

N’Joy will now hang out in a Waukegan Marina slip for two weeks until our hired captain arrives to sail her across Lake Michigan to Charlevoix, Michigan, which will be her new home. In the meantime, we’ll drive our motorhome to Petoskey and wait for her arrival on June 17th. We can’t wait!

Hope everyone is well!
