Tens and Hundreds to Celebrate

I’m the kind of person who loves to celebrate milestones and other special events. The latest example of this passion is occurring even now as Niki and I spend a few weeks relaxing in delightful Durango in southwest Colorado. You see, it was ten years ago when, having only recently met, I convinced Niki to take our first road trip together. The journey we took was down to Durango to stay at the historic Strater Hotel and ride the Durango & Silverton Railroad’s Valentine’s Day train. I guess you’d have to say that trip was very much a success, as a year and a half later we were married.

Fast forward to this trip. Not only are we celebrating a wonderful 10 years back in Durango, we also marked our 100th “month-iversary” of marriage on the very day we took this year’s train ride. We booked seats in the Knight Sky, a totally glass topped car neither of us had ever taken before (but definitely will again!). The views were incredible, the weather was perfect, and the entire experience as good as could be (and the company was amazing, too).

To both reminisce and celebrate both events and the 10 years between them, we’ve put together a few “then and now” pictures from both 2014 and 2024. Please note: you’ll need to click on each of them to see the full shot:

We’ve still got much more to see and do in this beautiful part of Colorado that I’d love to someday call home, some of which you’ll soon hear about from Niki. For now I’ll share a rather unusual product we found while on the train along with a photo of Roswell who made the long, nearly 8 hour drive with us like a champ. And I promise you the first and third photos are 100% absolutely in no way related to the kitty in the middle one…

We’ll see you again soon a bit farther down the line!

We’re planning to spend a good bit of the summer by Charlevoix with the RV and the new (to us) sailboat. Come on up and give sailing a try!
