Droning on in Little Traverse Bay

As my father always quoted during our travels, And we bid a fond farewell to... Petoskey.

The triple header cities of Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix in Northern Michigan are just stunning. Here are some drone shots to prove the point. Just wow.

We can’t get enough of this place. That big, beautiful, clear water beckons us like a siren song. We sniffed around, looking at condos and sailboats to maybe extend our stay next summer. We’ll see.

Our great friends Melanie and Erik (from Fort Collins! We met them playing pickleball 🙂 have been blessed to stay here every summer since their kids were little. Their family owns an adorable cottage located in the historic Bay View Association. The Methodists founded this Chautauqua (an institution that provides adult education courses and entertainment) in the late 1800’s. As an admirer of architecture, this community of 400 Victorian cottages is sheer delight for me (and total boredom for Craig). Each one is unique and beautiful and the place is covered with the peace of God. So very special.

We are now five hours south, in Holland, Michigan, another pretty little town right on the Fresh Coast. My Mom and brother will join us this weekend for a visit and are staying right here in our campground. Mom will be here for a week, so I’ll be able to give her a good introduction to this area. Excited to see them!

I’ll leave you with a kitty shot….

You’re in our favorite area of Michigan! We don’t think we’re going to be able to get to Michigan this summer/fall.
Keep posting…we enjoy reading your adventures!!!

Beautiful pictures and drone footage- trying to figure out where Captain Craig was to get the drone footage. Speaking of pickle ball, one of the Denver suburbs is in real turmoil because neighbors are complaining the noise from the pickle ball racquets is disturbing their quiet! Thought you’d like that little tidbit!!
